KP-234AU

A Conversation About Balance, Lightness, and a Quiet Sense of Presence

It started with an unexpected reference. "Crowns"

Not in a literal sense, but in how they sit. Centered, Balanced, Designed to rest with intention rather than weight. That idea became the foundation for KP-234AU. (KP-234AU - A Conversation About Balance, Lightness, and a Quiet Sense of Presence.)

On the Bridge and the Idea of a Crown (KP-234AU - A Conversation About Balance, Lightness, and a Quiet Sense of Presence.)

The bridge was one of the first elements to take shape. There was an interest in how crowns worn by royalty sit lightly on the head, carrying presence without excess. That feeling was translated into the center of the frame.

There’s a subtle rise at the bridge. It’s not decorative, and it’s not meant to be noticed immediately. Instead, it creates a sense of alignment when the frame is worn, as if it naturally finds its place on the face.

The thought was simple. That wearing KP-234AU would feel like wearing a small crown.

Not as a statement. As a feeling.

On Shape and First Impressions (KP-234AU - A Conversation About Balance, Lightness, and a Quiet Sense of Presence.)

From the bridge, the rounded front follows a calm, controlled geometry. Nothing is exaggerated. Every curve exists to support the face rather than define it.

The design itself is not loud, it settles in, and that sense of quiet balance continues throughout the design.

On Movement and Everyday Wear

The way the frame moves matters just as much as how it looks. That’s where the Ju-Shi hinge comes in. Using dual synthetic resin washers, the hinge guides the opening and closing of the temples with a smooth, controlled motion.

There’s no snap. No stiffness. It's designed to remain consistent, allowing the frame to feel the same on the first day as it does years later.

On Lightness and Relaxed Comfort

The design extends into slim 1.0mm beta titanium temples. Lightweight and flexible, they follow the natural curve behind the ear, easing pressure instead of creating it.

At just 7 grams, lens excluded, the frame feels almost weightless once worn. The kind you only notice by how little you think about it.

Three color variations of KP-234AU displayed side by side, showing wine, smoke gray, and translucent olive tones.

On Color as Character

Colors were chosen with restraint and longevity in mind.

A translucent olive tone adds warmth and depth. A classic tortoise with refined titanium accents feels grounded and familiar. A deep wine tone introduces richness without excess. A clear, smoke-like finish highlights the structure itself. Each color shifts the personality slightly, but the feeling remains the same. Calm. Composed. Intentional.

On What Remains

KP-234AU isn’t about symbolism.

It’s about how something feels when it’s made with care. Balanced. Light. Centered.

A small crown, translated into form and worn, quietly, every day.
